Selling or part-exchanging a car: prepare the facts

An accurate description helps a buyer assess your vehicle and reduces avoidable changes at inspection. An online enquiry is not a guaranteed offer or a completed sale.

Prepare a complete description

Gather the registration, mileage, specification, keys and available service records. Disclose known faults, warning lights, damage and outstanding finance. Take clear photographs of all sides, the cabin and any defects rather than only flattering angles.

Compare the full transaction

For a part-exchange, compare the price of the replacement car and the allowance for yours together. Ask what is subject to inspection, how long an offer is valid and whether any collection or administration charges apply. Obtain the final figures in writing.

Agree a safe handover

Confirm the buyer’s identity, payment arrangements and any finance settlement before releasing the vehicle or documents. Verify changes to banking instructions independently. Keep the sale receipt and complete the appropriate DVLA notification.

Dealership stock enquiries

Trusted Motors has a dedicated dealer stock disposal service for motor-trade businesses. Private owners should call first to confirm whether an assessment is available. We do not promise to purchase every vehicle or provide an instant guaranteed valuation.
